Chemo update 30 Dec 2011

We received a lovely 52nd anniversary present today.

We went in for the usual Chemo treatment this morning, and as usual, they took some blood for the usual lab tests, and we waited for about an hour while they "hydrated" me, meaning that they used the IV they used to draw blood as the means of infusing me with salt water in preparation for the poison to come later.

The "labs" indicated that my platelet count was low. . . Actually it has been coming down each week, and was slightly out of range last week, (140 - the normal range is 150-400) but the magic number they look for is 100, below which they do not like to administer the chemo. Today my platelet count was 70. After some phone calls back and for to the doctor, they all decided I was through with Chemo! This was welcome news, because I am still not recovered from last time.

So we went to get radiated, then came home. Took a nap and watched a movie. Nice anniversary.

  1. I'm so glad you had a nice anniversary present from the doctors! I hope you'll recover and your platelet count will come back up. We love you and hope the chemo already in your system will do its job and then get out!
    Happy anniversary yesterday.
