August 15, 2013 update

Chemo update  August 15, 2013

Dr. Grossman again confirmed that things are looking really good.  We had a chest x-ray this morning that doesn’t show much detail as it relates to the tumors, but he was interested in how the fluid in my lungs was doing. I think he called “effusion.”  It has occupied a small portion of my left lung and is a product of the tumors and my body’s reaction to them.   He has been tracking this for a few weeks, and is satisfied that it is now stable.  He is prepared to take it out if the build-up is too great, but so far that does not appear necessary.

We are scheduled for a CT scan in a couple of weeks, and he is really looking forward to seeing the results.  He would like to see some shrinkage, but will be happy if there is no growth in any of the tumors.  He says that he is being parsimonious with respect to the scans he orders because there does not appear to be any threat of cancer except in my lungs, so the next scan will not involve a Barium cocktail.  Good news all around.
